Just another manic Friday

Well, it's off to the Huntsman clinic for another blood test, or CVC as we call it in the business. I am really NOT happy with the way the election seems to be headed - 'nuff said.

Let me focus on some more of my interests.

I have loaded some pictures of a rather unique race car. This is the Lancia-Ferrari D.50. Mafe around 1950, designed by Lancia and powered by Ferrari. It had a nice powerful engine with a canted engine placement (see layout photo) and had fuel tanks in between the wheels. It won many races and is not available in an accurate model form........well, it was offered recently by a European company for about $150-200. I think they are either out of business or quit making the kit. You can find 1/43 cast replicas, but that's not really my thang.

It's iunique and, I think quite good looking.

The plane in the last post is a British DeHaviland Moquito. Great plane; an anachronism that performed beyond any expectations. It was mostly made of wood, something no one else thought of at the beginning of WWII. It was a successful fighter, bomber and photo-reconnisance aircraft.

This picture is one of the great Lotus race cars from the late 60's early 70's. This might be at the Indianapolis Speedway, where the late Jim Clark almost won in a car like this. I dunno, it may have been this one. He was killed a few years later in a qualifying trial, I believe.

I'm still upset about the giveaways in Washington, DC. I believe the Gadianton Band is alive and well there.

Life moves on. Lisa had one really good day this week, Thursday. Since then, chills and fever, etc.

The weather is warmer, but the fall chill is definitely in the air. Do I smell pumpkin pie?

Here's my number 2 - no not that

Today is Tuesday, October 14th. It's looking like a great week...Lisa didn't have to stay after her blood test. We came home together. It's been rough having to take her over, get her blood tested and then leaving her in the infusion ward in the hospital. The people at AF hospital are really nice, but I still like her to be home.

This financial system mess is very trying. Our President seems intent on giving away more money than can be imagined. I don't believe throwing money in the billions and trillions to people who have already proved they don't seem to know what they're doing seems like a really great idea. Remember when you were kid and you and your friends were seeing who could name the highest number they knew - thousands - oh yeah well ...billions - oh, yeah, well ...trillion (usually dollars). Is that a real thing, trillions???

Anyway, it's really making me frustrated and a little angry. I wish we could be compassionate without giving away our great - grandchildrens future.

I read today that Col. Don Blasklee has passed away. He was 90. A real WWII hero who was a real leader - not manager. He shared the "glory" of his work in the War - let others share. There are true heroes today, but few have sacrificed like the WWII generation. My hats off to them (my Dad was in the Navy in WWII).

Winter has begun to show its presense here. Frost in the morning - heck, we had snow on Sunday. The air is crisp and clean. This is what fall/winter should be like. Weather for football and hunting (although I participate in neither, I still like the cool change.

Well, here I go

I've been bugging Lisa to help me to set up my own blog. She finally relented (the second football game wasn't that exciting and Dallas lost). Since it seems that everyone else in the family is doing this, I thought I'd give it a try.
Most of you already know my interests, but I may sneak in a train or plane picture - even a dream car, now and again.
I may at times get a little verbose about being old and grumpy and want to shake my fist at the world at the current state of affairs. I'll try to keep that from being a theme, though.
