I awoke early this morning. This is unusual anymore, because of my work scheedule. I leave work usually about 9:45 p.m. I have become sort of a night owl - usually get to bed aroung midnight. But I digress.
My life has been blessed with the kindness of many people. Most of my friends as an adult have been non-LDS. I do count many as friends who are LDS, but I have many who aren't.
Of course, my children and grandchildren are always showing love to Lisa and me.
In the course of being married to my sweetie, we have come to know the goodness of Nan and Steve Christensen. They are an amazing duo. They have traits of true Christians. They sense a need and take care of it. They have done helpful things to us "above and beyond" what just an acqaintance would do. They will say "we'll be over next Saturday to ...........". Yes, there was a need and they just did it. No fanfare, no bragging - in fact Steve will probably be mad at me for even mentioning his name.
Their help has been a special blessing during the trials Lisa has been going through. I would have evntually got around to hanging the pictures on the wall (yeah, right). Not a big thing, you say. But these little deeds (to them ) were a breath of fresh air to my sweetheart who has been in a dark place for a year.
I am just one of many people who have been the recipient of their kindnesses.......and I wanted anyone who sees this to know of my admiration and love for them.
Happy Easter. (my favorite holiday).

Back again aftyer only 2 months

Well, life does get hectic, doesn't it. I have intended to be a bit more active on this thing, but time just rushes by.
Lisa is stable and, we hope, getting stronger by small increments. She was on liquid antibiotics for 8 weeks after surgery on her abcess, which she got after a bathroom fall (broke her pelic bone). I've been giving her the DanActive brand of yoghurt culture and try to keep fresh fruit for both of us. Yeah, yeah, old fart only talks about health issues. I remember thinking this.
My thanks to all the family for making efforts to come by and helping with the "space ball" antibiotics. And thank goodness we're through with that phase.
I mostly sleep (9-10 hours) then go to work. If i have an errand, I leave early for work. On weekends, I try to give Lisa a shower and we wqatch 3 discs of NCIS. I don't know what we'll watch after we get all caught up.
I'm still modelling - that is if you count buying and selling kits modelling. Soon it'll be warm enogh to go out and paint some of the kits that are WIP.
I am seriously worried about our country. Sometimes we have to deal with changes, but the prospect of our whole economic system is a possibility. I'm thinking positively as much as I can, but our government has become a big joke as far as I can see.
I will hang on to the gospel as my core of hope. I think that a lot has to go on before the Savior returns.....temple building and such, so the Church will need to continue to have the funds to accomplish many things. Anyway, as long as I can, I'll be a hopeful, happy person.
I'vwe come to the conclusion that the British Mosquito is my favorite WWII aircraft. I really like many planes of that era, but it's the top of the heap for me.

It's January 18
So here I am, still alive and 62 years old.
I went to work last Monday and have been hobbling along and getting back into the swing of the workin' guy.
I continue to improve a little........I have been the recipient of many blessings just this week. When I get weak and weary of life, Heavenly Father reminds me that all things are in His hands.
Lisas has been also continuing her quest to figure out life. She got over shingles - has a few little scars for that. She has now received over 25 units of blood and a few of platelets. Her marrow has been damaged by the chemotherapy and will be a while ?? before her poor body can produce enough red cells on its own.
Her newest malady (one a month or so) is a growth on her left "cheek". Iy's a fluid filled sac that grows a little each day and will continue to do so until it is surgically removed. It rests right on her sacril(sp?) nerve, so sitting is painful. We hope to have it removed this week. Have I mentioned that I am VERY grateful for a great health insurance? Thanks to Nestle and IHC.
I haven't been up to much other than what I've mentioned. I dearly love Lisa and am very hopeful for at least recovery enough for her to walk and do stairs by herself.
Love to all.

Well, to all or any who may be out there, I'm still alive. I had a new left knee installed on Nov. 10. Since then, I've been kinda out of it. I discovered the joys of developing anxiety. Lisa says it's a reaction to my pain medications - which, as you may guess, is pretty important after major surgery.
They get you up the day after surgery in the hospital. I took a few steps and gave back the small amount of liquid diet I had in me. I took a few more steps the next day and almost made it back to bed before 'losing it' again.
I came home on Thursday, the 14th. In the meantime, Lisa had been admitted to American Fork hospital with pneumonia. She came home the following Monday.
So we're doing OK. Lots of help from friends and family. Many kudos to Heather who has kept us fed and looked after us while chasing 2 of the cutest little wild girls ever created.
Scott has been by lots to help try and keep me sane.
We're on the mend, with a few bumps along the way. Lisa started developing a rash on Monday this week - turns out she has shingles.
Thanks to all for your thoughts and prayers.

Just another manic Friday

Well, it's off to the Huntsman clinic for another blood test, or CVC as we call it in the business. I am really NOT happy with the way the election seems to be headed - 'nuff said.
Let me focus on some more of my interests.
I have loaded some pictures of a rather unique race car. This is the Lancia-Ferrari D.50. Mafe around 1950, designed by Lancia and powered by Ferrari. It had a nice powerful engine with a canted engine placement (see layout photo) and had fuel tanks in between the wheels. It won many races and is not available in an accurate model form........well, it was offered recently by a European company for about $150-200. I think they are either out of business or quit making the kit. You can find 1/43 cast replicas, but that's not really my thang.
It's iunique and, I think quite good looking.
Well, I'm off. Talk to ya'll later.

It's Saturday - yeah!!!

All is good whenever you have a day off work....right??
Heather says I need to give some info on the pictures, so....................
The plane in the last post is a British DeHaviland Moquito. Great plane; an anachronism that performed beyond any expectations. It was mostly made of wood, something no one else thought of at the beginning of WWII. It was a successful fighter, bomber and photo-reconnisance aircraft.
This picture is one of the great Lotus race cars from the late 60's early 70's. This might be at the Indianapolis Speedway, where the late Jim Clark almost won in a car like this. I dunno, it may have been this one. He was killed a few years later in a qualifying trial, I believe.
I'm still upset about the giveaways in Washington, DC. I believe the Gadianton Band is alive and well there.
Life moves on. Lisa had one really good day this week, Thursday. Since then, chills and fever, etc.
Reagan is to the groomers today for a shave and a haircut. If you haven't seen him, go to Heathers' blog.
The weather is warmer, but the fall chill is definitely in the air. Do I smell pumpkin pie?

Here's my number 2 - no not that

Today is Tuesday, October 14th. It's looking like a great week...Lisa didn't have to stay after her blood test. We came home together. It's been rough having to take her over, get her blood tested and then leaving her in the infusion ward in the hospital. The people at AF hospital are really nice, but I still like her to be home.
This financial system mess is very trying. Our President seems intent on giving away more money than can be imagined. I don't believe throwing money in the billions and trillions to people who have already proved they don't seem to know what they're doing seems like a really great idea. Remember when you were kid and you and your friends were seeing who could name the highest number they knew - thousands - oh yeah well ...billions - oh, yeah, well ...trillion (usually dollars). Is that a real thing, trillions???
Anyway, it's really making me frustrated and a little angry. I wish we could be compassionate without giving away our great - grandchildrens future.
I read today that Col. Don Blasklee has passed away. He was 90. A real WWII hero who was a real leader - not manager. He shared the "glory" of his work in the War - let others share. There are true heroes today, but few have sacrificed like the WWII generation. My hats off to them (my Dad was in the Navy in WWII).
Winter has begun to show its presense here. Frost in the morning - heck, we had snow on Sunday. The air is crisp and clean. This is what fall/winter should be like. Weather for football and hunting (although I participate in neither, I still like the cool change.
